Streamwreck updates itself and installs an update only when you click to install it. The newest version is at the top.
Buying from the app: if you click Buy twice, the window still unlocks by itself once payment completes.
Effect names with "&" show correctly in the control panel.
Saving Settings no longer cuts your microphone or ends a voice effect that's playing.
Two webcam effects at once: when the first one ends, the second keeps going.
Flip Screen on a portrait monitor turns back to portrait afterward.
Twitch, Kick, YouTube and TikTok notice a dead connection after sleep or a network change and reconnect on their own.
Streamwreck no longer freezes while Windows waits for your permission when you turn on "Show effects over fullscreen", and connecting to or opening OBS doesn't hold everything else up.
OBS changes are safer. Undo keeps working if something goes wrong partway through a change, and OBS's own settings can't be damaged by a power cut while Streamwreck is saving them.
A failed start no longer blocks reopening Streamwreck in most cases.
Behind the scenes: our servers are more reliable during busy periods and updates.
Your webcam now runs separately from your on-screen effects, so a busy camera effect is less likely to hold up the rest.
If Streamwreck crashes during an effect, your PC puts itself right. A flipped screen turns back, held keys let go, and your cursor returns to normal, without waiting for you to reopen Streamwreck.
More reliable long streams. A big follower list can't be lost if the PC crashes while saving it, signing out of Twitch stays signed out, and a stuck OBS connection can't slowly use up memory.
Twitch points, bits, follows and subs reconnect on their own after your PC sleeps or your connection changes, instead of looking connected while receiving nothing.
If your webcam is unplugged, Streamwreck says so and picks it up again when it's back, instead of freezing on the last frame.
A big raid can't back up effects for ages. At most 20 queued effects wait; the oldest are dropped first.
One broken custom effect can't get stuck on screen or hold up the others.
Behind-the-scenes update for our server. The app itself is the same as 0.1.56.
Creature effects look the same every time. Firing one again no longer changes its size or color.
Better recovery after a crash. If Streamwreck crashes during an effect, the next launch turns a flipped screen back, clears a screen tint, and lets go of any held keys. Undo does the same.
The overlay restarts itself if it crashes, so effects, your camera and your voice effects come back without restarting Streamwreck.
Turning off Streamwreck Camera now closes it properly, so OBS doesn't keep showing your face.
Fewer update pop-ups. You're told once about each new version.
Your license check can't get stuck on "Checking your license" if the connection drops.
Webcam effects stay on your webcam. They no longer cover your whole screen. Camera Takeover still fills the screen, as it's meant to.
Creature effects are lighter and play to the end. Spider, Bee, Bats, Squid, Demon Horns and Alien Antennae now wait until they've loaded before starting, and each one finishes its animation.
Squid on Your Face now always shows the 3D squid.
Smoother effects on PCs with integrated graphics. On a PC without a separate graphics card, Streamwreck now draws its effects without using the graphics chip, so a game no longer holds them back.
Drunk Walk now lasts 7 seconds.
Rewind can look a little choppier, especially right after another effect. This keeps it from slowing down your other effects.
Your license email no longer shows your key in the inbox preview.
Webcam effects now tell you when OBS has your webcam. If another app has it, Streamwreck says so before you go live and again when you go live, instead of quietly doing nothing. A Fix it button points OBS at Streamwreck Camera, and Open OBS in Streamwreck now does that for you. Undo puts it back.
Keyboard and mouse effects: Drunk Walk really walks you around, Keyboard Gremlin presses more keys and holds them, and Cursor Wobble is gentler.
Flip Screen starts and ends on time.
Effects keep drawing while a game is working your graphics card hard.
Privacy policy: we now keep a history of when your license was in use and by which connected channels. See the privacy policy, section 8.
Updated license agreement and privacy policy. Streamwreck now tells our license server which streaming channels you connect in Settings, to keep each license with one person. The agreement also covers using clips of your public stream that show Streamwreck effects to promote Streamwreck. You'll be asked to accept the new agreement once.
Every effect now has a preview picture. In the control panel, all 109 effects show a preview on their card. Webcam, face, keyboard, cursor and display effects get a clear icon for their kind, since they can't be shown as a still of your screen.
The license agreement page remembers you. Once you've accepted it, the page says when you did, instead of asking you to accept again.
Kick chat works again (beta). Kick changed how its chat connects, and Streamwreck now follows it. Type your Kick channel name in Settings and your viewers' `!commands` fire effects. No sign-in is needed, and Streamwreck only reads your chat. It's in beta: it has been tested reading a busy public Kick channel, but not yet a streamer's own channel. If Kick changes something again, Settings says so plainly rather than looking connected.
Updates are safer on slow PCs. "Restart to install" now waits a moment for the helper that reopens Streamwreck if you don't approve the Windows permission prompt. On a slow PC it could miss its start, which left Streamwreck closed.
Choose how viewers trigger each effect. Mix it however you like:
Follows and subscriptions need one more Twitch permission each. When you turn one on, Settings asks you to sign in to Twitch again. If you don't use them, nothing changes.
Bits, channel points, follows and subs now share a single connection to Twitch.
Squid on Your Face, rebuilt. The squid now sits on top of your head instead of sinking into it. Some of its arms wrap over your forehead, and others reach over the crown and behind your ears, so they disappear behind your head the way a real octopus grips a ball. It reaches a tentacle toward your nose, flushes red when startled (open your mouth to startle it early), inks the camera and jets away with its arms streaming behind it.
Twitch Bits setup fixed. The Bits box in Settings now sets bit tiers (minimum bits → effect), and cheers fire them. Before, effects mapped there never played. If you set up Bits before, please set your tiers again.
Jumpscare hits without warning. The demon face lunges straight out of nowhere, with no red screen first.
Jumpscare (Classic) is back as its own effect, alongside the new one.
Ghost Scare now lurks. A faint, pale wraith appears somewhere in your scene, perfectly still, and fades away. Sometimes that is all. Sometimes she then appears right in your face with a shriek.
Ghost Scare (Classic) is back as its own effect, with a scarier face.
Demon Face now darkens the area around your face too, so it no longer looks like a mask.
Two new head effects: Little Demon Horns (small burning horns poking out of the top of your head) and Alien Antennae (long, glowing green antennae that bend as they rise).
The two classic scares flash, so like every flashing effect that has not been measured they start switched off. Turn them on in the control panel if you want them.
The scary and creature effects are redone in 3D. Bat Swarm, Skull Rain, Jumpscare, Ghost Scare, RIP and Annoying Bee now use creatures and props rendered from detailed 3D models instead of flat drawings and emoji.
Bat Swarm no longer lags. It runs smoothly even with big bats filling the screen.
Skull Rain pours in from the top, each skull bouncing once off the bottom, and the screen is clear before it ends.
Jumpscare and Ghost Scare hit harder: a demon face lunges out of a red flash, and a pale wraith flickers in the dark before she lunges. Both now last 2.5 seconds.
RIP raises a candle-lit tombstone for your fallen run.
Annoying Bee darts around your mouse pointer, lands on it when you stop, and loops away at the end.
Squid on Your Face is a new 3D squid. It drops onto your head, plants its arms on your forehead, boops your nose, and inks the camera when it gets startled (open your mouth to startle it early).
Demon Horns (new). Burning obsidian ram horns grow out of your temples on your webcam.
Demon Face has a new setting that darkens the area around your face too, so it no longer looks like a mask. It is off unless you turn it on.
Like every webcam effect, the squid, horns and Demon Face play only on Streamwreck Camera.
3D creatures on your face. Webcam effects can now put real 3D creatures on your head that follow your face as you move, lit to match your room.
Face Spider (new). A spider drops onto your face on a thread, walks across it with every leg stepping, then climbs back up and away.
Bee on Your Face (new). A bee buzzes around your head and won't leave you alone.
Bats Around Your Head (new). A small colony of bats flutters and weaves around your head.
Squid on Your Face looks better. It is now a 3D squid on the same layer. If your PC cannot show 3D, you get the old flat squid instead.
Like every webcam effect, these play only on Streamwreck Camera.
Webcam effects stay on your webcam. Face and webcam effects now play only on Streamwreck Camera. If the camera is off, they are refused with a note telling you to turn it on, and they never put your webcam over your screen.
No more stuck keys. When a control swap ends while you are holding a key, every key it touched is released.
Linking OBS works right away. Screen color and flip effects reach your stream as soon as Streamwreck is linked to OBS, with no restart. Saving Settings no longer signs you out of Twitch chat.
Text-to-speech reads your viewers' words. `!tts hello` reads "hello" aloud (links removed, up to 120 characters). It is off until you turn it on in the control panel, under the flashing warning.
Rewind just works. It follows the game in front of you, so there is nothing to set up, and your game now quietly slips backwards, with no label on screen.
Connect OBS mutes your other mics. It now lists every OBS source that could still send your normal voice (like a webcam's own microphone) and offers to mute them. Undo puts them back.
Smaller changes. The control panel opens every time you start Streamwreck (not when Windows starts it). Settings has a search box. Big Cursor, Tiny Cursor and Giant Mouse are off by default, since they only show where the normal Windows pointer does. Screen Melt, Frame Lag and the takeover effects last longer, and the jumpscares are louder. The voice row no longer asks for a Windows restart that would not help.
Five new face effects. Squid Face, Glasses, Mustache, Top Hat and Clown Nose stick to your face and move with it. Like Big Head, they need Streamwreck Camera on and OBS using it as your webcam.
Your control panel is private. The control panel and Settings now open in their own Streamwreck window, and websites and browser tabs can no longer reach them. Your OBS overlay link is private too: copy the new link from the control panel's OBS card. If Streamwreck is linked to OBS, it updates your Browser Source for you.
Bots and Stream Deck: one change needed. The command-line tool now needs the trigger-token file in Streamwreck's data folder (see the README). Existing setups that call Streamwreck directly must be updated. The tool can trigger and stop effects, nothing else.
Keyboard Gremlin (was "Scrambled Typing"): its card now says exactly what it does: random letters and spaces, never Enter.
Kick doesn't work in this version. Kick changed its chat connection, so Streamwreck now says so instead of showing Kick as connected.
Screen effects reach your stream. With Streamwreck linked to OBS and Display Capture on the “Windows 10 (1903 and up)” method, grayscale, invert and flip-display now show on stream as well as on your screen. Before, viewers only saw your reaction.
Grayscale now really grays a Game Capture.
Your camera, the right way round. Streamwreck Camera now sends your camera the right way round, so text reads correctly; turn on Mirror in Settings to get the old look.
Display Capture showing black? The control panel now says how to fix it: set the Display Capture's Capture Method to “Windows 10 (1903 and up)”.
No pop-ups on your stream. While OBS is streaming or recording, Streamwreck shows no Windows notifications, so a Display Capture never catches one. If Streamwreck isn't linked to OBS, it only shows the ones that answer something you just did; the rest wait in the control panel.
"Streamwreck updated." The first time a new version starts, the control panel says which version you're on now, with a link to what changed.
The effect editor makes what it says. The particle shapes (hearts, stars, snow, bubbles, money, leaves, coins) now draw as those shapes, and options that did nothing are gone.
Clearer license page. It says how long the free trial is (from the license server), that a purchase made in this window activates by itself, and that Streamwreck keeps working for up to 72 hours if your internet drops.
Clearer about what shows up on stream. The control panel, the effect cards and streamwreck.com now say what each effect needs. Use a Display Capture in OBS; the Browser Source shows the on-screen effects only. Cards for webcam, voice and game-window effects say what they need (Streamwreck Camera on, voice set up, or a windowed or borderless game).
Before you turn on input effects. Streamwreck doesn’t inject into games or read their memory. Its input effects press keys and move the mouse like a person would, which some games’ anti-cheat may not allow: check your game’s rules before turning input effects on. Safe mode turns every input effect off.
Quit from the control panel. A Quit button in the header (it asks once), the same as the tray’s Quit.
Test frame capture for troubleshooting. Settings → Advanced can let a test tool on this PC take one picture of what Streamwreck Camera is sending. It is off unless you turn it on, and it turns itself off after 60 minutes.
Face effects that can’t find your face don’t count. If Big Head, Googly Eyes, Demon Face or Possessed plays but never finds a face in the camera, the effect isn’t counted and its cooldown doesn’t start. Its card says: “Last time, it couldn’t find your face, so it didn’t count. Make sure your face is in view and well lit.”
OBS links more often, and says why when it can’t. If OBS is installed but Streamwreck can’t find its settings, Streamwreck now tries OBS’s usual address anyway. If OBS asks for a password, the control panel says so and tells you where to find it in OBS, instead of reporting a failure.
Open OBS from the control panel. When OBS isn’t running, the Connections strip says “OBS: not running” and offers an Open OBS button.
What’s new. When an update is ready, the control panel links to streamwreck.com/updates, which lists what each version changes.
Streamwreck never uses VB-CABLE as your microphone. If Windows’ default microphone is VB-CABLE, Streamwreck uses your real microphone and says which one.
Open OBS now really opens OBS, and Streamwreck links to it by itself.
Connect OBS can turn on OBS’s WebSocket server for you. OBS ships with its WebSocket server switched off, so Connect OBS used to stop and send you into OBS’s menus. Now it offers to turn the server on itself: close OBS, click Continue, and Streamwreck changes only that one OBS setting, protects it with a password, and lets you undo it. Then click Open OBS and Streamwreck links by itself. Streamwreck Camera, overlay effects and screen effects work without it.
Start Streamwreck with Windows. A new option in Settings (off unless you turn it on) opens Streamwreck in the tray when you sign in to Windows, so viewers’ effects work as soon as you go live.
Check for updates. A Check for updates button in the control panel, and the same item in the tray menu. Streamwreck still checks by itself every 4 hours, and an update still installs only when you click to install it.
Face effects tell you when they can’t run. On some PCs, Big Head, Googly Eyes, Demon Face and Possessed did nothing while they looked like they had played. Now, if the face tracker can’t start on your PC, those effects are refused instead of pretending to play: the effect isn’t counted, its cooldown doesn’t start, and its card in the control panel says why. Streamwreck can’t give back channel points or bits a viewer already spent on Twitch. Possessed plays only with its face, never without it.
Camera Takeover now really flips your webcam’s colors to their opposites, as its card says.
Turning Streamwreck Camera off no longer asks for admin permission, and turning it back on doesn’t either. Only uninstalling Streamwreck removes the camera.
Install VB-CABLE now says “restart needed” when VB-Audio’s installer finished and Windows only needs a restart, instead of saying it failed.
If your speakers or microphone go quiet after installing VB-CABLE: VB-CABLE can make itself Windows’ default sound device. Open Windows Sound settings and choose your speakers and microphone again. Streamwreck will do this for you in the next update.
If you decline Windows’ permission prompt for an update, Streamwreck may stay closed. Open it again from the Start menu. A fix is coming in the next update.
Possessed is now switched off unless you had turned on every effect. To allow it, untick it under Settings → Moderation → Turned-off effects, or tick its card in the control panel.
